Why does the NAACP focus so much on things other than crime, drugs, unemployment, illigitimacy in black areas?

Just curious with all of the problems in the black community. All their focus seems to be on things that are not helpful to their former cause which was uplifting the black community with work ethic, family structure, and employment.
